This week we open Expressions of Interest from mentors as we seek to strengthen our mentor pool, and value proposition and support, for founders & startups that undertake our programs.
We hear the term mentor almost daily, so let’s first start with defining mentoring.
Mentorship is a relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person. The mentor may be older or younger than the person being mentored, but he or she must have a certain area of expertise.
It is a learning and development partnership between someone with vast experience and someone who wants to learn. Interaction with an expert may also be necessary to gain proficiency with/in cultural tools. Mentorship experience and relationship structure affect the "amount of psychosocial support, career guidance, role modeling, and communication that occurs in the mentoring relationships in which the protégés and mentors engaged."
"Mentoring" is a process that always involves communication and is relationship-based, but its precise definition is elusive, with more than 50 definitions currently in use.
One definition of the many that have been proposed, is;
Mentoring is a process for the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital, and the psychosocial support perceived by the recipient as relevant to work, career, or professional development; mentoring entails informal communication, usually face-to-face and during a sustained period of time, between a person who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience (the mentor) and a person who is perceived to have less (the protégé)".
Here at One10 we continue to strive to provide ongoing value and support to the founders and startups we work with. In line with that approach we are developing and strengthening our Mentoring program by inviting a larger pool of mentors from across the globe. We are currently undertaking an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to build our pool of mentors and industry experts, that we will then match to past, current and future founders and startups in our programs.
Keep checking back or subscribe to know when we go live and open up applications for the mentoring program.
EOI for Mentors. One10 is seeking Expressions of Interest from Mentors to support our new mentoring program.
Now is a great opportunity for you to provide guidance, expertise and mentoring to matched founders and startups that come through our various programs.
Express your interest today, it takes less than 1 minute, you can do it from your phone, and your support can have a significant & positive impact on a founder and their startup.
